If you have a tendency to reach for a sweet treat after a meal, then the best thing to do is to make a point not to let them enter your house where you can reach it easily.

  • Plan a diet: When you plan your diet, it does not mean that you have to starve yourself, it means that you should have at small meals for least five to six times in a day. Take care that your meals should be 'small'. You should prepare a list of low calorie foods that you like. The next time you go shopping, buy them. Plan your meals well in advance. Keep your pantry stocked with healthy foods. Have sprouts, legumes, boiled eggs, green leafy vegetables, tofu, oats, fresh fruits, and salads; in short foods that give you energy but do not add to your calorie intake are a very good option. Also include those foods in your diet chart that have a high fiber content and low on carbohydrates.

  • Exercise regularly: Everybody cannot go the gym to exercise, but they can always exercise at home. You can buy a good video that guides about the exercises for weight loss. You can choose to do aerobics, or yoga, or a do a combination of both. The best thing about exercising at home is that you can do it at a time that is convenient for you, and there is no need to get dressed like you do, if you have to go to the gym. If you have time to exercise twice a day, it would speed up the process of losing belly fat. Go for a brisk walk in the morning with a friend or a family member in the morning and do some cardio exercises in the evening.

  • Prepare food at home: Homemade foods are an excellent choice if you have to lose your belly fat. The main reason for this is that when you prepare food, you are sure to use good ingredients and also reduce the quantity of oil used. You can alter the recipe to suit your dietary requirements and turn a high calorie food into a low fat diet. You know that you have limited options to eat, so you stick to what you have made. As there is no option of having desserts, you tend to escape that temptation. A note of caution when you prepare food at home is that do not overcook; many vital nutrients and healthy enzymes are lost if you cook for a very long time.

  • Have plenty of water: Increase your intake of water. Water makes you feel full and you tend to think less about sweetened aerated drinks. Water also flushes out the toxins out of your system and makes you feel healthy. If go out of the house, make sure you have a bottle of water wherever you go and have a sip or two. Your body will take at least a couple of days to adjust to this routine, but after a few days, you will feel better.
